Rid Your Space of Harmful Toxins With One Simple Addition!

New studies generated by NASA and the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA) have shown that having indoor plants in your vicinity can immensely help purify the air. As indoor pollutants continue to rise due to our diminishing forests around the globe and air pollution due to industrialization, it is essential that we accommodate to times of change.

In order to combat a condition known as “Sick Building Syndrome,” NASA and the ALCA joined together in a two year study that has shown that certain plants are essential in cleaning an enclosed space of pollutants. Scientists who partook in the study stated that plants that were enclosed in chambers made of plexiglass and pollutants were later inserted into the space and then monitered. Three plants, Philodendron, Spider Plant, and Pothos were proven to be the most successful in ridding the space of formaldehyde, a chemical that is used in flooring, walls, furniture and can be difficult to avoid in the modern world. The National Cancer Institute constitutes this chemical as a possible cause of cancer. If you live in a house, or own an office space, this chemical should be addressed promptly! While we cannot immediately change what our houses are made of, we can simply change our internal environment and reap the benefits of better health. http://www.interiorofficeplants.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Golden-Pothos.jpg (Pothos picture)

NASA and the ALCA recommend going the extra mile whilst adding a bit of color to your your space. According to their study, the beautiful Chrysanthemums and Gerbera Daisy’s have also been proven clean the air of Benzene, a chemical found in coal, tar, petroleum, glues, cigarette smoke, car exhaust, and more. Exposure to Benzene can cause a decrease in red blood cell creation in your bone marrow as well as weaken your immune system. As your bone marrow and immune system are incredibly vital to our well being, adding these to plants to your home is a no-brainer. http://www.floristtaxonomy.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/November-Chrysanthemum-2.jp (Chrysanthemum Picture)

It is suggested that having multiple types of air purifying plants in your house will achieve the most optimum results. While Chrysanthemums and Gerbera Daisy’s clear the air of Benzene, Philodendron, Pothos and Spider plants help rid the air of formaldehyde, another plant is quite complimentary to the five previously mentioned. Spanish Moss, one of the Bromeliad family, has been shown to absorb elements of mercury, a chemical that is highly detrimental to vital organs, muscles, and can possibly lead to death. Because Spanish Moss is what is known as an “air plant,” meaning that it derives its nutrients from the air, it requires very little care and provides astounding benefits.

Furthermore, NASA has concluded that these ten plants are very effective in cleansing the air of carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, and Benzene:

Chinese Evergreen – Aglaonema Modestum
English Ivy – Hedera Helix
Mass cane/Corn Plant – Bamboo Palm – Chamaedorea Seifritzii
Mother-in-Law’s Tongue – Sansevieria Laurentii
Mum – Chrysantheium morifolium
Peace Lily – Spathiphyllum
Warneckii – Dracaena “Warneckii”

If you’re looking to keep your family, your employees, and clients safe, air purifying plants are an essential asset. You may think that an air purifier will do the trick, but according to NASA, some have actually shown to increase the amount of contaminates in an enclosed space. For a happy and healthy family, a productive team of employees and a beautiful environment, order above and we will have the plants of your choice delivered right to your door!
